Christmas Gifts at the Beach Café by Lucy Diamond

3.0

Set in the village of Carrawen, this novella focuses on Evie and Ed, who are not looking forward to a Christmas apart. Ed has to go and spend Christmas with his recently widowed mother, and Evie has her newly separated sister Ruth (and her children) coming to stay.

Sometimes I feel that novellas can be rushed because they try and cram as much as they can into under 100 pages - unfortunately this was one instance. I didn't feel like any character got a great run, I would have loved more from Ruth and less from the dog. It could have been a little more festive, but I do like Lucy Diamond's writing style a lot and it wasn't the worst way to pass an hour.
