There were a love interest stuck in a time-blip, a missing uncle, and an anxiety-inducing needs to live a life you wanted while dealing with a myriad of insecurities. The cast of characters definitely have unique & fun personalities; their quips & antics will leave you entertained while feeling warmth over their shared dynamics. One Last Stop's strength lies in its light-hearted approach to a lot of overwhelming "adulting" stuffs by celebrating people being their unapologetic self with a sweet dash of time-warping sapphic romance being central to the story.
Although an enjoyable light read, I thought the premises set in this story were undermined slightly by the matter-of-fact way the plot unspooled. In other words, the progress of the story felt rather flat with the resolution seeming convenient.
For example, August was investigating & throwing ideas with her friends on how Jane might've come to be stuck in a time blip. I think it would've been interesting to expand on that element of mystery, allow the readers to get into that investigative mode, to follow a lead & feel the frustration from stumbling into a roadblock; but August merely described what she did & we were spoon-fed with what she'd found. I wanted more insights into her purported investigative brilliance, but it was glanced over. Basically, it just seemed rather too straight-to-the-point for my own personal taste. Also, Billy's fundraising felt out of the blue, seeming only to provide the setting for Jane's rescue. The progress appeared not well thought out for me.
Regardless, I did find One Last Stop to be quite a fun read. The romance was sweet, & the found-family dynamics were heartwarming. The mystery & time-travelling element were too underplayed for my liking, but the light-heartedness did shine through.
