Taking the Heat by Victoria Dahl

5.0

After realizing living in NYC was not the dream she hoped it would be, Veronica has returned to Jackson, WY where she feels she is pulling one over on everyone. Currently the town's local advice columnist for everything from manners to sex problems, Veronica has a big secret - she's never done it! To make matters worse, her boss wants her to do a weekly, live advice show and she doesn't know how much longer she can keep up the facade. Vowing to start being brave and authentic, Veronica runs into the new, sexy librarian after her first show and she drunkenly spills the beans, all the beans. Gabe cannot believe the confident Veronica he saw on stage is an act and while he initially rejects her drunken request for sex, they start dating. While Veronica is being completely honest for the first time in her life, she finds out Gabe may be keeping his own insecurities secret from her.

SO much fun! I loved the sexy male librarian and it was sweet to see how he helped Veronica boost herself up. He wasn't the cure for her problems (no man is) but he was definitely the shove over the cliff. Can't wait to read more!

I really love this story, especially since Veronica is such a great character. Listening to it on audiobook was a nice treat, even if the narrator was a bit annoying. The way she had Gabe say 'yes' was a little obnoxious.

Also, I really love how the HEA comes from both characters knowing they would be happiest living their lives and working in Jackson. No one is sacrificing.
