A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
4.0
3.5 stars
I loved the writing overall but, my God, I had so many problems with the characters, which is so rare.
I really enjoyed the concept of what Brígida Kemmerer was going for. It was A Court of Thorns and Roses minus the sexual scenes and with a lot more action and escaping. Even some of her characters reflected that of ACOTAR.
I loved Harper and Rhen. Grey read like the secretly gay-bff the whole f-ing book, which was a let down because he’s not bisexual. I’m going to rant about Grey and how annoying the mixed signals in this book were. Yes, he’s Tamlin, which is so stupid! He’s not fully thought-out and has a lot of holes, unlike Harper and Rhen. Rhysand = Rhen oh, the irony in that.
Anyway, every place the author wrote about read so vividly—whether D.C. or Emberfall. It’s the main reason I’m considering picking up book 2 closer to the release date of book 3.
