While I was anticipating this having some romance, I did not anticipate that it was going to be a romance. Big difference. I can't speak to the romance bits in this as I'm not qualified and I skimmed them, but I did notice that enthusiastic consent played a role.

The retelling/fantasy portion was intriguing. Conceptually, it's a fantastic spin on an old story with copious retellings. The execution was fairly solid with the worst bits appearing to be edit fails (there's only so many times I need to be told that Anna was told how ugly she was). The worldbuilding was quite clever.

I really wanted to finish it as it's an advanced copy, but I'm not doing that to myself. Romance lovers may find much to love in here, but it was much too much love for me.
