The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

1.0

From the man who helped lead the Represed memory and Satanic panic movement, his long disproved theory is not only self-indulgent but harmful to people who have suffered major trauma and hurtful to those who haven't!

Sending people struggling from very real struggles in the moment on a wild goose chase for historical wrongs, which in itself adds to the problem.
And dismissive to people with good lives who are going through a rough patch? Diagnosed with cancer? No childhood trauma? Must be repressed! That or your cancer is not really real *eyeroll*

These bad ideas have informed other well-intentioned but foolish people like Gabor Mate.

This is not how the body works. This is not how the brain works. The truth is touched upon just enough that with a big stretch, he can claim a sliver of validity on how the brain body connection works.
