The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird
4.0
Thanks @penguinrandomca for my review copy of The End of All Men! Read this for a slow burn yet intense pandemic novel.
Set in just 2025, in a world where a virus can kill in just two-four days, men are the only ones who are dying. And it’s up to women to save them.
Ok, I know what you’re thinking - a pandemic novel during a pandemic? I think that it’s good this is being released today, because had this come out a year ago I think it would’ve been too much tbh. But it works for where we are today.
There’s quite the cast of characters here, and you’ll need to pay attention when reading because the short chapters and multiple POVs from both main and secondary characters can either work for you, or it won’t. A lot of you know I LOVE multiple POV, so this was a win for me!
I liked the sense of panic but it wasn’t over the top, or it didn’t make ME panicked about the state of things. I loved how the characters were portrayed, and how they all had their own ways to cope. We got the good, the bad, and the ugly from all of them, and it made them seem real.
I say read this when you’re in the mood! It is sad, will make you angry in an annoyed way, but the way it comes together in the end will inspire hope. This was a great suspense/thriller novel!
