I sometimes find Morton's work to be frustrating, more often I find it enormous fun. This book is not perfect, but it has a few neat tricks. Not twists, but things that were satisfying to see. I think in a novella, some of the things that can cause me consternation about her writing don't get the chance to linger long enough to be unwelcome.

Overall, I saw what she was doing (knowing grandfather and other relatives), I recognized some of the wells she likes to return to (cheating exes), but the way this hung together worked for me. It's simple black dress, made very well.
