"Think you know the person you married? Think again…

Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. "

This book was suggested to me for a Buddy Read and it wasn't one that I had come across before but as soon as I read the blurb I was intrigued! and good choice it was too as we could NOT. PUT. IT. DOWN. In fact I think its a good thing we broke the book down into sections over 5 days (it was supposed to be over 7 days but we got too excited at parts!) as if I had been free to devour it I would have needed a week to recover from the brain mush inducing twists and turns which were constant throughout the book - its almost like you need the time to pause, process and get over the whiplash from it all!

Adam has prosopagnosia or face blindness, a condition which means he is unable to recognise faces or expressions, which also means he has no idea what his wife looks like. I cannot begin to imagine what it is like to live with this and I was interested to see how the author would use it throughout the book. We meet him and Amelia on their way to a weekend getaway and its quite obvious straight away that they are not in a good place in their relationship - no wonder when they both have big secrets they're keeping from eachother. The book jumps from letters written in the past by Adam's wife which gives a bit of history, and now, in a renovated chapel covered in snow in the middle of nowhere in Scotland... what could go wrong?!

The story is genuinely fast paced and gripping, creepy and darkly atmospheric at times, and it certainly keeps you on your toes - it really doesn't give you much time to try and guess what's coming next but we did manage to predict a few twists and turns along the way, definitely not all though, so we were still able to enjoy some surprises!

This was my first Alice Feeney but it won't be the last! I just hope she's not one of those authors who once you've read one, you've read them all!
