The Anti-Hero by Sara Cate
4.0
I’ve seen this question around a lot concerning reading and rating books: Why do people read books with tropes they don’t normally enjoy?
My answer: Because they are written by Sara Cate.
I can’t explain why I like her books so much. I don’t understand it. I can say with 100% certainty that many things that happen in her books are things I don’t like or seek out. (I even thought maybe I did like some of the tropes, picked up highly rated books by other authors with some of the same tropes, and ended up hating them.)
I definitely don’t like religious themes in my romance, so I wasn’t actually sure why I picked this book up, but I figured Sara Cate hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
I really liked The Anti-Hero. I liked Adam and Sage, their completely opposite lifestyles, and the fake dating revenge plot. Maybe it works for me because she writes such compelling characters and you just can’t help but root for them and want to see them happy. And even though her books are quite spicy, it’s never just about that. Overall, I recommend this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
