Carnage by Shantel Tessier

dark emotional mysterious tense fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated

This book was more than a roller coaster, this was a fucking nuclear explosion directly into my f*cking HEART. Holy f*ck Shantel is continually dropping bombs on us. I have no room to breathe!!!

This was dark. This one hurt in ways that the other books didn’t. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s her darkest, personally I still think The Sinner holds that title just for the topics addressed. But what Ashtyn, and even Saint, endure at the hands of the Lords is intense. Ash is such a strong woman 💕 She had her moments of weakness and hesitation in their life, but still, she loved Saint. She fought for HERSELF and for Saint as best she could, given the power the Lords have over them. She loved him and belonging to him, but she had her own reasons for running & honestly, I don’t blame her. Ugh and Saint is yet another delicious MMC. Like jfc, his intensity, his self-assurance, his loyalty to his brothers, his determination to have Ash as his Lady. Obsessed!!! And omfg, is he dangerous. He’s by far the “scariest book bf” of Shantel’s men, YET AT LEAST🤭 the motorcycle!!! the cherry pop!!! the tattoo for her!!! swooning, kicking my feet, blushing, all of it. And the tender moments? my heart. their connection was sooooo hot, but the love was there.

The twists in this were sharp, jarring, and DIZZYING, in the absolute best ways possible. I gasped. I cried. I laughed. I almost tossed my kindle across the room at the halfway mark. But we do get a HEA, thank god. as always, I love the seamless crossover with the other characters in this universe. Cameos are always fun, and Shantel really forces you to pay attention, because she reveals answers to questions you have from previous books. Everything is intentional. Everything ties together. I love it!

Debate is still on for which Spade brother will be my favorite, because from this book alone, I cannooooot choose. Kash, Haidyn, and Saint are scrumptious. I would d*e to swap places with Ash for a night & take all three, literallyyyy lmfao 🥵🙃This book was more than a roller coaster, this was a fucking nuclear explosion directly into my f*cking HEART.
