I have read this series from book 1 and 2 and I have been intrigued even though now I am finding myself disappointed. The differences in point of views that we’re reading from to advance the never ending plot (spoiler warning) Hugo Waverly and his need for his unexplained revenge, we get snippets of why he is mad at the League but never in full, it is annoying. (End of spoiler).

The romance is a backburner in this book and I understand why because this couple [I was so excited for since book 1] is a MESS. I am not getting the chemistry and their internal struggles aren’t moving me as much as I would like them to. Also the hero? My word. I just can’t. And the overlooking or undermine of the heroines trauma is infuriating. Especially the hero’s reaction.

The book overall is all over the place, lacked depth and focussed more on the plot than the couple I was excited to read about.
