But I think there is a magical link between you and me. A bond that not even distance can break.

nice, but it lacked.. just lacked in general.
I felt that the book was too rushed, there were barely anything about.. anything. somethings were brushed quickly away, not more than a few lines, even the war itself felt as if you could take that off the book and it wouldn't change anything. felt more as an excuse to write x situation, it was kind of poorly written. same thing with the gods situation, even if in this universe that's how religion or culture works, you're not showing me what the gods and their existence mean to people. it was so poorly explained it hurt me.
even the characters felt so simple and with no dimension at all–i mean I get the secondary characters may not have much on page time but still, they're just.. there. they tell their stories so easily and there's not much to remember about them, which is a shame because they could've been so interesting, specially the lady who owned the place–she refusing to leave the place even with the war approaching was such a good take and yet. I mean I can't even remember the characters' names, that's how plain they were.

but, there's a reason I didn't fucking hate this book and that's the protagonists. they were nice and cute and I had a good time reading then bot. the dual pov truly adds a lot to the story, and I just warm up to both roman and iris. loved how they're kind of parallels to each other–iris felt as if she didn't had anything do she went to search for it, while roman had things back home but decided to leave all of that behind–their stories mirror each other's and they still compliment perfectly well. but it still felt rushed. I enjoyed their scenes and chemistry, but didn't had that slow development I actually was looking forward to read.

anyway, as I said, I didn't hate the book, just.. wasn't that good either. I'll read the next one tho, I'm curious as how it will end.
