All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka

5.0

Being the book Edge of Tomorrow was based on, I was pretty excited and had high expectations going into it and I was not disappointed at all! I'm not an expert on literature or anything but I loved the prose on this one. It's simple yet very alluring. I think it's now one of my top 10 favorite books of all time.

While Keiji was the main protagonist in the story, Rita as a badass character was very well fleshed out. You just can't not like her. The novel is definitely more character-driven than the movie.

Also, my excitement while reading was sustained all throughout as the narrative here had a lot of differences from the film to never know what's going to happen next. I especially appreciated that the book had an explanation as to how and why the mimics were on earth. This was maybe the most philosophical part of the storyline.

Generally, highly highly recommended!
