Without a doubt, this is for sure the longest book I've ever read. After the trailer for the new movie came out, I decided I needed to get my hands on this book i m m e d i a t e l l y. And I was freaking floored. This epic fantasia of horror spans over decades in the lives of a group of seven children, while also painting a horrifying portrait of a town over centuries. This book is so much more than just a terrifying clown. It's about what it means to grow up, to age, to change, to stay the same. It's a reflection on the part of your life that may not have been the best, but showed you how great your life could become. It's about the strength of the human spirit, and its ability to cope with unimaginable horror and pain. It's about learning to be brave, to be true, to stand for yourself and your friends. Ultimately, it's about how to believe as an adult--to believe in all the things you used to believe in as a child. It's about discovering the possibility of courage, and believing in the desire to be yourself, and how that's enough. It's about realizing that there aren't good or bad friends, but there are those that stand by you when you need help, that make you feel less alone in a sometimes desolate world. It's about how those friends give you the hope to live and go on, and how they may even be worth dying for. These are the people who you want and need to be with, that forever hold a place in your heart. It's about finding out you can exist inside the pain, in spite of the pain. This book was marvelous.
