Emily Climbs by L.M. Montgomery

4.0

“It was a lovely afternoon - such an afternoon as only September can produce when summer has stolen back for one more day of dream and glamour.”

The more I read of her works, the more I love Montgomery's writing. The way she handles the passage of time while still showing character growth and development is exceptional. I loved being Emily's journey with her as she worked toward her dream of being a published author. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments as well as sad, heartbreaking ones.

My main drawback in this installment was the same older character introduced in the first book who obviously has romantic attraction to Emily from the time she is around eleven. We even see him thinking about her kissable mouth. This aspect of the story was a big no for me and I found it difficult to like this character. Thankfully, there weren't too many instances of this.

This is a series I am sure I will revisit many times in the years to come.
