I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book captured my attention from the first page and held on to me through the whole book. The main character, Edie, both had my sympathy and made me so mad for some of her decisions. But every great book elicits a wide range of emotional response from the reader! I would definitely recommend this story to anyone that loves urban fantasy. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars include: some of the medical terminology left me confused; some things weren't explained thoroughly and left me with questions - like why the hospital shadows went dark in some areas. I made my own assumptions at the end of the book but I like nice tidy explanations.- and finally, Asher. No spoilers but his character confused me as he bounced back and forth between villain and hero. Overall though, the book was excellent and I am very much looking forward to book two!
