The Professor by Charlotte Brontë
3.0
I finally finished a book after months of a terrible reading slump. Admittedly this wasn't a great book to mark the end of my reading dry spell. This book was just, okay. I just finished it and I'm already forgetting about it. I mean, you can tell that there's the beginning of what comes to life in her magnum opus Jane Eyre, but overall it lacks the stand out characterization, gothic aspects and riveting storytelling that makes Jane Eyre so wonderful.
That's not to say that I read this book while comparing it to Jane Eyre, but if this was the only book I had read from her, I would not want to read any more. It's still enjoyable but you can't just turn your brain off and enjoy the writing because the writing in this is just not the most enjoyable.
