A Sinister Revenge is another great addition to the Veronica Speedwell mysteries. Veronica and Tiberius collect Stoker from Bavaria and go to the seat of the Templeton-Vanes, Cherboys. Tiberius believes he is under target by someone who is murdering surviving members of a friend group who called themselves the Seven Sinners. The viscount invites the remaining friends under the guise of a house party to find the murderer with the help of Veronica and Stoker. Stoker and Veronica are still estranged. While Veronica is trying to find the serpent in the nest, she is also trying to find how she can reconcile with Stoker.

The mystery is well plotted and not easy to solve. Characters from previous books appear, which is fun. There is great humor as well as touching personal moments between characters. It’s hard to describe much without entering spoiler territory. 

I listened to the audiobook. Angèle Masters narrated as she has the previous books, and does an excellent job yet again. Her characterizations and interpretation adds a dimension to the story that I greatly appreciate.

I recommend A Sinister Revenge highly. I anticipated this installment greatly, and I feel very satisfied.
