A book every single person should read ‼️
This kind of exquisite writing makes being a reader an absolute joy. Despite the book being fairly short, I didn’t power through it as quickly as I thought. Words in such a beautiful composition deserve time.
This book is emotionally raw and depicts the truth and realities of the characters lives. The magnetic pull between the characters from the beginning was navigated so well and you can’t help but root for their ending.
There is a central theme of being seen and the freedom in being seen, but also the vulnerabilities that come with that.
It also explores identity, what it is to be a young black Londoner, the nature of masculinity, the trauma of racism and racist dealings with the police. All of these themes are expertly navigated and highlighted.
There is no way I could write a review that would do this book justice, it is truly an unforgettable read and I would recommend this to everyone.
