3.5/5 Stars
July Chen can see ghosts, but tries her hardest to pretend she can't. Her father has always told her that ghosts don't exist, but during Hungry Ghost month, they're hard to ignore. Then she meets William, a young ghost, who isn't quite a ghost. July and William team up to try and return him to his body before he is eaten by a hungry ghost, but run into some obstacles along the way.
I flew through this middle grade graphic novel inspired by Chinese mythology. It's a sweet story about friendship that was so wholesome. I loved the colourful artwork, and easy to follow panels. I really loved the different ghosts drawn. Oxhead and Horseface were two of my favourite characters, I found them so silly. I think middle graders will really like this!
There's also an adorable little ghost dog named Floof, and if that doesn't make you want to read this, I don't know what will.
