Satan's Affair by H.D. Carlton
3.0
This is the first time I read anything like this. At the beginning, I was pretty put off by the excessive intimate scenes, but I decided to push through and overlook that for the sake of the plot.
I quite liked the book being set in a haunted house and the concept of Sibby “cleansing the world off evil”, which slightly reminded me of Death Note. This is definitely a much much deeper and darker tale though.
We get to know a bit about Sibby’s background and it explains a lot of how she feels and the way she is, as well as the choices she makes. We also get some chapters that are pretty much flashbacks to her childhood, which further explain what led her to be this executioner now.
The ending was a pretty good one, and I’m glad I continued reading the book. It’s dark, it’s heavy, it highlights a lot of issues and traumas, and it can definitely be very triggering.
