A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
2.0
Dnf at 34%. I've given it a fair shot but there's nothing remotely interesting for me to continue on.
Sincerely, this book has caused me major headache and disappointment, all at once.
The writing style is convoluted, given little chance/room for the characters to shine or to explore their own personalities. The narrative is full of parentheses or pointless and repetitive explanations, this should've been much more edited imo. Although I can appreciate certain aspects of the imaginative culture that is portrayed in the novel, they are not good enough to balance the issues I've encountered throughout the book.
If I add the fact that I don't dig murder mysteries, least of all when they are entwined in a sci-fi setting, I'm not really surprised with the outcome.
