Most her know the overarching story of the Donner Party this book tells it a little different as it is focused on Sarah Graeves and her family's experieences. Blends story with historical research while also grounding some of the scientific pieces in what we know today. It was fascinating as well as emotional. Not for everyone as the author discusses cannabalism and physiological hardship.
