Brighter Than the Sun by Darynda Jones
4.0
Brighter Than the Sun is a short story that reminds us about Reyes childhood, why he calls Charley Dutch, and gives a little more insight into his feeling about it all. You really do need to have read at least the first part of the series for this book to make sense. If you have done that you already know that Reyes childhood was very disturbing and horrible, this story goes into that in a little more detail; some readers may find it very difficult to read because of that. The sexual and other abuses he suffered are not written in great detail but enough that you cannot be mistaken about what was going on and how horrible it is. This story I feel is a little slower than the other books in this series and is mostly to fill in the blanks for the people that wanted more info about Reyes past.
