Opium and Absinthe by Lydia Kang

5.0

I loved this. LOVED this. I knew nothing of the story going in. As I began reading, I believed this to be historical fiction-not my favorite thing to read. However, a few pages in this took a most astounding turn!

The mystery was wonderful. I adored Tillie, our main protagonist, who is beautifully flawed. The amount of research done by the author adds so much to the realism of the story.

And how she approached the subject of addiction? Flawless.

I highly recommend this. There was never a lull or a time the story felt stagnant. I was engaged the entire time.
