Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. Those are my first thoughts upon finishing this book. I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I went in with no expectations and I was completely surprised how easy it was to get so involved in this story and with these characters. I AM SO MIND BLOWN BY THE ENDING IT IS SLIGHTLY HARD TO FUNCTION ALKSJLAK. Anyways, this book was absolutely amazing. It is very rare for me to get completely mind blown by books, as I can usually see the plot twists coming from a mile away, and I haven't enjoyed a book this much in quite some time. this book just reminded my why I love reading so much and it was worth reading through some shitty books to eventually find this gem. I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Shutter Island but this book reminded me a lot of that movie in the way that from the very beginning you don't really know if you can trust your main character and their perspective and it's exciting and dramatic and aksljdlajk SO GOOD. I finished this book in less than a day because I literally COULD NOT put this down. I LOVE THIS BOOK I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CARRY ON WITH MY LIFE NOW THAT I'VE FINISHED IT.
I really loved every single character in this book, which is shocking. Naomi was easy to relate to, and she felt as if she was going crazy during the entire story and I really sympathized with her, and I felt the same stress over figuring out the truth. I loved Max right from the start, he was just really sweet and admirable and I really appreciated the way he respected Naomi and handled certain situations. I loved Lana's character, and when we discover some harsh truths about her life I was completely shocked and it made me feel sorry for her, my heart ripped for her, and I felt so many emotions toward her character. And lastly, Lachlan. I absolutely loved his character. I'm a sucker for first loves and his relationship with Naomi was absolutely precious. I was so invested in their relationship and I looked forward to the flashback chapters when I could read more about their story. I loved how they had the tree house and the fireworks and the matches, they were so cute and even though he was a lot older than her, he never acted like a douche bag or made her feel like a little kid, which I appreciated. Even though this book contains some graphic sex scenes I actually enjoyed most of them due to the fact that I loved these characters so much and I was so invested with these relationships. I think Max is so swoon-worthy it's ridiculous.
I thought the pacing of this book was absolutely perfect. I loved the mysterious aspect of this story, I was constantly guessing what the plot twist was going to be and I was completely wrong! Ugh, I absolutely love being tricked by a book like this. I was so freaking confused during the last few chapters of this book and it was absolutely mind blowing. I don't know how to recover after reading an amazing book like this. This book is easily going on to my all time favorites list.

For a long time during the book, I thought the big plot twist was going to be tat either Lana or Lochlan was imaginary and that she made them up. I thought this book was gonna pull a We Were Liars on us and say that she made up all of her friends. But I was completely shocked at the reveal that Lana and Naomi are the same person. I was completely shocked, and then we discover that not only are they the same person, but Max and Lachlan are also the same god damn person! I was so surprised my mouth almost hit the floor. I thought for sure there was some crazy love triangle going on and I really liked it. I remember reading one of the sex scenes, and Lachlan says "God, I love you." and I remember previously that Max had said the same exact thing during one of their sex scenes, and I immediately knew something was up. I thought that maybe she was just making one of them up. But I never expected that Max and Lachlan were actually the same person. Like, my mind was fucking blown. I thought that with the drama between Lana and her Dad that Max was going to die, and that was going to be the reason why she was mentally so messed up and was in the hospital in the first place. But no. I can't believe the whole time she was Lana and she was being raped by her Father, like aklsjdlaks. It all makes sense. Also when Lachlan was having sex with her and he kept saying "It's me, remember who you're here with" I was so confused as to why he was saying that and NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE, I CAN'T. I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. MY MIND IS SO BLOWN. It really makes sense that Max and Lachlan are the same person because I loved them both and I wanted her to be with both of them and it was so emotional for me. I love the fact that Lachlan finally killed her Dad in the end. That bitch needed to die. He made me so incredibly angry. Even her Mom, like what an asshole her Mom is for sweeping it under the rug and acting like shit wasn't happening. Ugh, I just can't believe how amazing this book was. I'm never getting over it.
