This is such a Toronto story. It's about grief, aging, and living as an immigrant in a gentrifying neighbourhood - a neighbourhood where the culture is steadily changing into something else (all in the name of progress). I love how this book touches on the issues that make someone feel part of a community, and how a healthy community helps people feel safe, valued, seen and acknowledged. Healthy and happy communities help people thrive and recognize that spaces can be shared. I loved this book, and the illustrations are wonderful. (Shortlisted for Canada Reads 2024)
