We need more magically sentient or semi-sentient buildings in novels!!! It adds so many fun opportunities, and I just love the idea that a person has a magical effect on the place they spend their time in. 
As for the rest of the book, I thought it was great. The characters felt real and their relationships with one another were intriguing to me as a reader and they felt like they developed naturally.
I love the magic system in this series and I am excited to read more.
