Queer: A Graphic History by Meg-John Barker
2.0
This is not a book on queer history but a primer to queer theories. The title is not clear enough. I don't like that.
There are severe lack of Black and people of color in this book because I think the author simply did not try hard enough to devote more pages to Black and poc theorists because they do exist and their theories deserve exposure too. And i feel that is also reflective of the current state in queer academia. Enough with Foucalt and Butler already.
I also don't like this white author comfortably listing uncensored slurs and saying it is somewhat equal to the word queer.
