I think it's interesting the way that the Brontës seem to engage with race (see also: Wuthering Heights). Someone smarter than me has probably written dissertations on it. I enjoyed this book. We love some toxic kings. Would i want my own Mr. Rochester? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Is it fun to read in fiction? YES.
