Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells

4.0

Liked this quite a bit better than Book 2, and it restored my patience and interest in the series. I liked about this book that it questioned what it is to be a synthetic, rather than merely what it is to be human. I liked when and why Murderbot had reactions that it had to go process, and that this wasn't belaboured in the text. It did make me wish for a book about robots where the robots thought in a way fundamentally DIFFERENT to humanity owing to the fact of its non-organic parts and the necessity of things like literal processing. The best books are the ones I like for themselves and which spark interest in reading different things. I have the fourth out now and will enjoy reading it over the weekend.
