“i let you live because i saw in your eyes what i have always felt too. that i don’t want to die without even having lived.”
this gave me everything i wanted from book one, but better. the fmc was even more badass, more unhinged, but above all, more murderous. this was almost like a second chance romance, which i love, and thankfully there wasn’t much bullying in the story. the mmc was a simp, not only was he a simp practically from the start, not wanting to torture nor divulging her secret identity, but he had been simping for her for six years, ever since she spared his life. but it gets better, on top of being an unapologetic simp, this man knows she’s better than him, that he will never be able to beat her. that’s my favorite part about this whole book. she calls him little mafia prince and he calls her little menace, if those nicknames don’t speak to their entire dynamic and power balance i don’t know what will. they’re the definition of soulmates, star crossed “enemies” to lovers.
