The Prom Goer's Interstellar Excursion by Chris McCoy

5.0

This book has all sorts of things I love: humane aliens, wacky hijinks, a male teen narrator who is both intelligent and compassionate, a female love interest who ~gets to be her own person~, weird costumes and weirder locales, impromptu road trips - and even more impromptu space trips, a realistically satisfying ending, and some Insightful Truths slipped in without hitting the reader over the head with it. (In hindsight, there's some similarity to John Green's work, although Chris McCoy is very much his own author.) This is a book I will absolutely be recommending to a wide variety of people and will happily revisit in the future.
