My God. I was nervous about reading this for two reasons: first, the recent controversy regarding the use of Scots Gaelic words and the pronunciation of them. As a Scot with a bit of Gaelic, I was worried the knowledge of the controversy would taint my reading experience. Second, how hyped the book has been on BookTok and BookTube.
However, I’m thrilled to report that none of that mattered once I got into the book.
The characters felt developed, the storyline felt robust, and the last ~50 pages had me full on weeping in parts.
Very excited I picked up Iron Flame when I was only 50% through this one.
