Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea by Andrew E.C. Gaska, E.L. Thomas

lighthearted mysterious

3.0

thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. as a child, i adored "chose your own adventure" books for the same reason i loved (and still love) video games: you were ultimately in control. i also adore comics and graphic novels, so seeing the two combined would have been a dream to child dorothy. i was That mythology child, so throw in a journey for the tale of Atlantis? i'm sold!

reading this book felt like a major nostalgia trip. flipping through pages to get to the next step of a journey? check. the frustration of the book ending prematurely due to your stupid choice? check. amazing artwork? check. lots different endings? check.

if i could go back in time, i would give a copy of this book to 7 year old me, as I would have loved this! if you have a comic book kid in your life, i'd definitely consider getting them a copy of this. and who knows! it might introduce them to the book in which this was adapted from (R.A. Montgomery's book of the same name)
