Vanquish is the second installment of Pam Godwin’s Deliver series. If you have not read the first book Deliver yet, I do not recommend reading Vanquish until you have. Vanquish starts off where Deliver left off, but we see the story continue through Van’s eyes. Deliver is a series that focuses on relationships through the horrors of human trafficking.

I was really excited to read about Van. Van is an incredibly complex character. I had mixed feelings about him in Deliver, and I couldn’t wait to see how I’d feel about him when I read his book. To my surprise, I actually ended up feeling quite a bit of sympathy toward him.

Amber is also an incredibly intriguing character and I loved how interesting her backstory was, and the daily demons she fought every day. It made for quite a unique dynamic between her and Van!

I really, really loved this book. The characters were amazing and complex. The plot was fantastic and unpredictable, and I actually got more emotional than I thought I would in this story! I highly recommend it to anyone that has read Deliver and is interested in continuing the series and likes reading books about a slave/captor dynamic.
