Thief by Matthew Colville
4.0
As I suspected after reading Priest, this book was an improvement in most every way. The writing was better, the characterization was better (and some interesting characters there are!). There were still some errors in the text, but again nothing that took me out of the story.
My biggest fault with this book was that it missed a few opportunities. For example, without spoiling too much, the book ends with what should have been a heist, but the author chose to skip the actual break-in and let the reader fill in the gaps on how it went. The characters just sort of show up.
If Matt can find someone to edit his books (I know he's trying to stay independent, but it's frustrating to see these errors), I think he's going to go far. I'm looking forward to the 3rd book.
