What a wonderful book about the transformative power of books and reading. I absolutely loved it. A teenaged girl bored in her summer job in a local library in Wembley, England, west of London, finds a list of books in a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird. She decides to read all the books and shares them one by one with a lonely widower who wants to connect with his reader granddaughter, who shared a love of reading with her deceased grandmother, and is inspired to go to the local library. Each of the characters finds compassion, comfort, and wisdom in the pages of the books they read on the list and as they begin to share lives with one another. This is an inspiring book about connecting through reading and books.
