The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You by Elaine N. Aron
2.0
I felt like I was reading the Thought Catalog in book form. This book fails to address the psychological and physiological effects of being an HSP without making assumptions about people’s background and life circumstances. For the more objective topics, it fails to go into depth, often having chapters that are one paragraph—the author even wrote on one topic “this deserves any entire book”. It’s a half baked commentary on the complexities of hypersensitivity, much of what is written serves to be a self-fulfilling prophecy for readers who are looking to validate their hypersensitivity instead of thoughtfully interrogating it in a way that will yield transformative change or at the very least more self-awareness. I would not recommend this book.
