The Guest List by Lucy Foley
5.0
I promise NO SPOILERS!
This murder mystery was so much fun to read. It is suspenseful and everyone becomes a suspect. My book club and I didn't even know who was murdered until the end!
It is set on a fictional extremely remote island off Ireland, where the mainlanders believe the island is haunted. Ambitious, tenacious owner of a popular magazine, Jules is marrying Will, celebrity of a popular survival show. There were 5 POVs: the bride, the plus one, the bridesmaid, the wedding planner, the best man. Author Foley uses 1st person narrative to tell the day before the wedding, the morning of, the night of the wedding with the two timelines getting closer together until we’re in the present.
Reading it with my book club was just so much fun! We met at halfway point to discuss our theories on what’s happening with each of the guests. It was a little creepy but in a fun way. It kept us engaged and interested the entire time and we loved making guesses on WHODUNIT!
This reminds me of whenever I attend the dinner murder mystery shows or the game clue...it was so incredibly fun. Even down to what is the murder weapon!?
Highly recommend reading it with your book club or with a friend(s) for a fun read.
