I read this book for the Read Harder Challenge category- read a book about the place you live. This book takes place in San Diego and honestly I have read few books that capture the city and its variety of neighborhoods better than this one- from La Jolla to Coronado to Barrio Logan to Old Town- from surfing to biking to eating tacos- the author who herself lives in San Diego captures the diversity of the city perfectly. And the food in this book- I wanted to run down the road to Old Town (just below my neighborhood and a key location in the story) and grab a fish taco. If I read romance it is usually rom coms and this one was a bit steamy but I really enjoyed it. the characters were believable and likable and the comparison with Romeo and Juliet was perfect- minus the tragic ending. I met the author last year at the San Diego Festival of Books which was an added bonus. A fast and fun read
