My current favorite book! It really has everything I love in a book: interesting family dynamics, societal commentary, political intrigue, a murder mystery, queer love. I read K's translation, all that Fanyiyi had translated and shared, and I purchased the Seven Seas Translation as well. The story just so good, I can't even provide a proper review because I want to talk about how much I love so much of this book. Though, the author has a tendency to neglect female characters. Not that they aren't interesting characters, they are and important to the lead characters as well, but they don't feel as full as others?? That may be intentional given the ambiguous historical time period MXTX was writing in? Regardless, I adore this book so much and wangxian are a beautiful couple. :)
