Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown

2.0

My first book of 2024 and it's 2 stars for me.

I thought I was going to really enjoy this book, I thought it'd be cute and thought I'd be reading about Elle getting stronger and more confident. Instead, I got Elle borderline stalking her ex and sulking about him the entire book and every time it seemed like she'd finally put herself first, nope, it showed that her next thought was Warner or it was her running to Warner...

While there were some good moments, the author made it pretty hard to like Elle. She slacked off in her studies. This was a huge problem to me since she only went to that school to show Warner how serious she could be and that she could take law studies seriously. Yet, she spends every lesson reading cosmo and vogue or skipping most classes for manicures. Any studying she did was shown as her half listening to a tape her secret admirer sent her.

This book could have also could have benefitted from more details. The case Elle interns for is very rushed with little detail yet it gets introduced around halfway in and the court scene dragged out for around 4-5 chapters, there was still very little detail.

Chapter 29 was my favourite chapter. It was the one where Elle was closest to changing and actually taking law and, more importantly, herself seriously. If the book had kept that up, it would have been so much better! But sadly, it didn't.
