Jubilee: Recipes from Two Centuries of African American Cooking: A Cookbook by Toni Tipton-Martin
5.0
June's cookbook selection for my library's group. There were so many recipes I wanted to try and I was quite pleased with how a few turned out (though I knew some culinary shortcuts to save some time).
Everyone in the group remarked on how yummy the things they tried were, though certain distinctions like "minced vs diced" didn't seem super necessary.
For our potluck we had the mango and sweet potato cake, pineapple and mango salsa, green beans, ground nut stew, sweet potato salad, potato and egg salad, ginger syrup drink, and the curried meat pies. Every dish was a success!
Definitely going to purchase and add to my collection for future us as I also made the lamb curry and am looking forward to trying out the lamb shanks and trying my hand at the cake and meat pies too.
