The Fraud Squad by Kyla Zhao

EhHhHH the ending wasn’t super satisfying BUT the premise and entire build up was SO much fun!
Samantha Song felt like a fairly balanced character with ties to her roots and the new life she started living. I feel like the people who challenged her REALLY gave her perspective, but at the same time, the glamour of the life she’s living still was at the forefront. I do wish there was a bit more self-realization from these challenging moments, and I was really wishing for a more satisfying ending. It just felt like she got off easy with the consequences of her actions (that’s not to say I wish she was punished more, but it just felt too easy and too clean of a solution or reaction from others).
Overall, I haven’t craved to read a book (or listen in this case) that I really didn’t know much about in quite some time! Zhao’s writing is extremely consumable and the characters felt very real.
And as a PR girly myself, I didn’t LOVE the way the job was represented but its also very different in the US versus internationally - so I digress lol.
