Moth by Lily Mayne
5.0
Yeah, another five stars for a Monstrous book. I can't stop! And I rarely give five stars to anything!
Moth was so sweet. The entire story was great. First of all, Moth as a character broke my heart. He was so self conscious and defensive. He was in love with Ghost, who didn't love him back. He didn't fit in with monsters or with humans. He'd been alone for far too long. And yet he was thoughtful and brave and kind. He opened up to Charlie and he fought hard to find Cat, all so Ghost wouldn't have to. Charlie was perfect. Literally perfect. So sweet, kind, thoughtful, empathetic... he fought hard to get through Moth's defenses. And the consent in this book was so sweet. He made Moth feel loved and wanted without feeling pressured.
The story was wonderful, too. The two of them ventured through the Wastes looking for Cat. It was fun to see their relationship grow and learn more about Moth's background. Their search for Cat was interesting and exciting, with a realistic end result. The issues they encountered were exciting, too. And Chuck? Top tier side character. I love that little monkey bestie. This book made me laugh out loud, cry, sob, smile at how sweet it was... it was everything. 3/5 spice levels.
Notes: monster/human, post-apocalyptic world, rescue mission, virgin MC, touch starved MC, grumpy/sunshine, blushing mc, past trauma, abusive family, forced proximity, cult
