After seeing the Studio Ghibli adaptation, I went on a quest to read the original novel, and while it was a quick read, I loved every moment of it. I laughed, I cried, and I smiled throughout the entire journey. The cast of characters are wide, colorful, and varied, and it builds into a satisfying crescendo and aftermath. This has become one of my all time favorite reads, and no matter your age, read this.
