In installment three, we take yet another hop sideways and further from Detritus.
Spensa's mission to the Nowhere is meant to uncover the very foundational principles of the worldbuilding, and provide the keys to ultimately solving all of her people's problems. I'm overall torn on this book, because taken by itself it was an enjoyable reading experience. I read the whole thing in under 24 hours and it never lost my interest.
It's fun, and Spensa I think is growing steadily less annoying. M-Bot's break with Spensa is resolved and handled in a way that relieves me a lot. That was my biggest worry, coming out of Starsight!
We meet a whole new cast, again. There's an oddball guy who comes off as a sort of Indiana Jones parody/Allomancer Jak type, a bunch of space pirates and, of course, the delvers.
I do think I enjoyed the novellas more, because I'm just far more invested in what's happening on Detritus. I don't have a lot more to say here, because my biggest takeaway is that I think Cytonic sets things up really well for book 4, and I'm hopeful the last installment will bring the whole long journey full circle.
