This book is over 700 pages and at times bogged down for me.  It is the story of 3 generations that grow up in a small village in India.  The family has a Condition passed down through the generations of an issue with water.  Many people in this family have drowned.  However that part of the story is not the main focus.  The book explores relationships (good and bad) and intertwines this family with an Irish doctor.  That part of the book took me a long time to figure out why he was in the book.  Overall just an okay read for me.
